Drammen

Let me introduce you to Drammen, my home town (故郷).

Population (Jan 1, 2013): 64 597 (人口)

From various places around town you can see Drammen from different angles.

The big building below the hill (下左) is the hospital in Drammen. Most Japanese cars arrive at Drammen port – the island in the photo below (下右).

I often go for a walk in the forest on either side of Drammen.

Below (下): The view from the top of the hill you see on the picture to the left (左). This view is in the direction of Oslo, about 40 km away. Holmenkollen Ski Jump  can be seen on clear days.

Many people go for a walk in the forest. Some people ride mountain bikes. During the winter you can go skiing.

Blekktjern – a little lake in the forest. Many people swim here during the summer.

Åskollen (下): the area where I grew up.

At Åskollen you can see an old rock carving (下), which is 6000-7000 years old. It depicts a moose (ヘラジカ). Read more about it on the Wikipedia links below.

In the hill behind the hospital there is a 1650 meter long tunnel called Spiralen. The top is 213 meters above sea level.  The tunnel was opened by King Olav in 1961.

The Drammen River seen from the top (下).

The citizens of Drammen are quite proud of the walking bridge, Ypsilon (上), the new indoor swimming pool (下左), and the soccer team, Strømsgodset. Every afternoon children of all ages practise next to the stadium.

Near the stadium ducks swim in a little pond.
